Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13th, 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country music singer-songwriter whose tales of young heartache achieved widespread success in the early 21st century. Swift was a fan of music at an early stage of her life. She quickly moved up in the ranks, beginning with roles in children's theater and eventually performing before a large crowd. Swift was 11 years old when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match. In the following year Swift began to write songs and picked up the guitar. Swift was inspired to create her own music by the music of country category, like Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks. Swift's parents moved her from Pennsylvania to Tennessee at thirteen after they sold their Pennsylvania farm. The move allowed Swift to spend more time looking for labels to promote country music in Nashville.
